Accountant
Summary:
General accounting including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers, and account and bank reconciliations. Complete monthly closings and account analysis.
Responsibilities
Accounting
- Prepare journal entries
- General ledger operations
- Invoicing / Agreement Management
- Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts
- Draw up monthly financial reports
- Prepare analysis of accounts as requested
- Monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements
- Complete year-end closings
- Administer accounts receivable and accounts payable
- AR Collections Process
- Prepare tax computations and returns
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts
- Monitor and resolve bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences
- Account/bank reconciliations
- Review and process expense reports
- Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
- Payroll administration
HR
- Reconcile benefit deduction statements with payroll preprocess reports
- Prepare offer and new hire documents
- Maintain I-9 files
- Respond to employment verifications
- Respond to EDD earnings verification/ audit requests
- Benefits administration, including processing new hires, terminations, and employee changes
- Administers 401(k) and health plans.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, finance principles, and financial reporting
- Extremely detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently and accurately under general supervision.
- Technology and accounting systems savvy
- Able to respond effectively to telephone and in-person inquiries
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, able to respond to changing priorities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Three to five years’ experience in accounting, including accounts payable and payroll processing
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, finance principles, and financial reporting
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws regarding finances and taxation
- Previous general accounting experience
- Proficiency in relevant accounting software
